Mercedes-Benz MB.OS Base Layer - Teamup with Vector
Software Development at Mercedes-Benz - Joint development of standard middleware for the base layer
Car manufacturers are becoming software-driven companies. Mercedes-Benz is one of them. In the latest Hansen Report, Michael Hafner, Vice President MB.OS Base Layer and MBUX at Mercedes-Benz gives an insight into their software development strategy.
Software development is shaping the future of car manufacturers, and software-defined vehicles (SDV) are the future of mobility. In this interview, Mercedes-Benz gives an insight into the development of MB.OS. Crucially, Mercedes-Benz worked on standardization. For the standardization of its middleware for the base layer, the carmaker teamed up with Vector for joint development. The collaboration is based on AUTOSAR Adaptive and Classic and the AUTOSAR Runtime Environment. "MB.OS will take a lot of complexity out of the system and make us faster," says Hafner.
