Vector Is a Member of SOAFEE for the Use of Cloud-Native Development Paradigms in the SDV
SOAFEE (Scalable Open Architecture for Embedded Edge) is a consortium of automotive companies, semiconductor manufacturers, open source and independent software vendors, and leading cloud technology providers. The goal of the initiative is to apply cloud-native development paradigms to the development and operation of in-vehicle software running on high-performance computers (HPC).
For Vector, SOAFEE membership is another opportunity to actively shape the Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) together with competent partners in the industry and to discuss issues.
Due to the current trend towards Software-Defined Vehicles, the size and complexity of vehicle software systems continues to increase rapidly. Software updates will also be more frequent than in the past. In addition, new functions and updates must be provided reliably and cost-effectively for different vehicle models over a period of years.
Many of the new requirements for the vehicle have already been solved in the cloud environment. The development paradigms used there show a possible solution path, but require adaptations to the changed application profile with regard to safety, startup behavior, and limited resources, for example.
