CAN/LIN Interface for Multi-Channel Use Cases
VN1670 CAN/LIN Interface - the interface to meet the expectations of customers regarding the required high number of channels. How could all this be implemented in a single device?
The answer lies in a powerful CPU and FPGA architecture and numerous options for future functions and extensions. This makes the VN1670 a high-performance multi-channel interface for all developments where LIN and also new CAN technologies are used.
The Challenge
A flexible platform for future technical tasks
The number of networks in a vehicle is constantly increasing. This is proven by the large number of applications and the high sales figures of the Vector CAN/LIN interfaces VN1610, VN1611, VN1630A and VN1640A. Until now, these interfaces only have two or four channels and can no longer meet the expectations of many customers regarding the required high number of channels in a single device. Therefore, one goal is to extend the existing VN1600 CAN/LIN product family by a powerful interface for use cases with a significantly higher number of channels.
The Solution
A high-performance multi-channel CAN/LIN interface
Users should get a platform for technical tasks like analysis, test and simulation of CAN / CAN FD and LIN networks. For this reason, the VN1670 has been developed as a robust and flexible interface for high-performance setups for the entire vehicle. With up to 15 channels, the focus is on test and diagnostics at the vehicle manufacturer and supplier, even with a high number of CAN / CAN FD and LIN channels as well as gateways with a high number of channels. The combination of five flexible slots for CAN / CAN FD and LIN piggybacks, each with 5 fixed onboard channels for CAN FD and LIN, offers maximum flexibility for analysis, test and simulation tasks. For use during test drives, the robust interface can be permanently installed in the vehicle via flexible screw connection options. For this, the VN1670 uses a wide voltage range.
The Advantages
Up to 15 channels, highest performance, two PC ports to choose from and many more advantages come with the VN1670:
- High flexibility: The 15-channel solution for CAN / CAN FD and LIN allows access to a high number of CAN FD and LIN networks with only one interface.
- Extreme robustness: The robust housing of the VN1670 with flexible screw mounting options offers easy mounting in the standard 19-inch rack and secure mounting in the vehicle.
- Prepared for the future: For the VN1670 network interface, Vector has developed a powerful CPU and FPGA architecture with numerous options for future functions and extensions. With the upcoming VNpiggy30 IO8644, digital and analog IOs will also be supported. In addition, access to new CAN technologies such as CAN XL will be available.
All these benefits distinguish the new VN1670 as the future-proof interface for high-performance remaining bus simulations, measurements and calibration of ECUs as well as test and diagnostics at the vehicle manufacturer and supplier.
