MICROSAR V2X

Integrate V2X (Vehicle-to-Everything) communication into your system with a flexible and scalable software stack. Designed for modern architectures, it supports a wide range of applications: from automotive and powered two-wheelers to infrastructure and devices for vulnerable road users (VRUs), such as cyclists and pedestrians.

V2X (Vehicle-to-Everything) is a next-generation communication technology that connects vehicles with their immediate surroundings. This includes other vehicles, nearby roadside infrastructure or even vulnerable road users, such as pedestrians or cyclists.

By leveraging direct and low-latency wireless communication, V2X significantly enhances road safety, optimizes traffic efficiency, and serves as a fundamental building block for autonomous driving.

Use MICROSAR V2X to develop or integrate V2X-enabled ECUs, roadside units, or compact V2X devices. Its lightweight, modular architecture enables integration into a wide range of embedded platforms.

Key Features of MICROSAR V2X

MICROSAR V2X provides a flexible, modular foundation for integrating V2X communication across in‑vehicle networks and beyond. With hardware‑independent design and support for short‑ and long‑range scenarios, it ensures interoperability, scalability, and reuse across platforms and markets.

V2X Vehicle Adapter

Seamless integration into in-vehicle E/E architectures with V2X Vehicle Adapter. The adapter connects MICROSAR V2X to the in-vehicle network via SOME/IP, making V2X data accessible to any applications within the network, such as remote HMI applications on another HPC.

Modularity

Supports multiple V2X transmission technologies and relevant regional standards, enabling interoperability across markets and deployment environments.

Hardware Independence

Access layer abstraction enables a hardware-agnostic design and allows a reuse of the stack across heterogeneous embedded hardware environments.

Support for Short-/Long-Range

MICROSAR V2X supports direct short-range communication for low-latency, real-time V2X use cases. For extended scenarios, MICROSAR V2X also includes an MQTT extension to enable long-range V2X communication and an integration into V2X cloud ecosystems.

Access Layer Abstraction

A fully abstracted access layer decouples MICROSAR V2X from the underlaying radio technology, ensuring seamless support for both cellular and WIFI-based communication.

Modules and Architecture

MICROSAR V2X is a modular and configurable V2X stack designed to adapt to different system requirements and application contexts.

  • Hardware independence: Deploy MICROSAR V2X on any device. A fully hardware agnostic design of the stack allows an integration on any given platform – from Telematic Control Units (TCUs), High Performance Computers (HPCs) or even super lightweight sensor Electronic Control Units (ECUs).
  • Seamless OS Integration: Due to platform abstraction, MICROSAR V2X interfaces with any given POSIX-based operating system, such as Linux, QNX or Zephyr. This abstraction allows a super low-effort integration of V2X in any target.
  • Flexibility of Transmission Technology: MICROSAR V2X is entirely abstracted from the Access Layer. In this way, the stack delivers full independence from the underlying transmission technology, seamlessly supporting both C‑V2X (LTE‑V2X and 5G‑NR) and ITS‑G5 (IEEE 802.11p WLAN).
  • Regional Independence of the core stack: MICROSAR V2X fully supports ETSI, C2C-CC, and other industry standards. This ensures regulatory compliance and interoperability across different regions.
  • Application Support: Develop your own applications on top of MICROSAR V2X or leverage the integrated Day-1 Applications defined by the C2C-Communication Consortium.
