The VN5620A is a compact and powerful interface for the analysis, simulation, testing and validation of Ethernet networks.
It enables active network participation, for example during simulations or the generation of Ethernet packets, loads and error frames in test scenarios.
Highlights
- Efficient handling of high data rates: Flexible configuration and filtering options simplify working with large data volumes.
- Flexible segmentation: Different segmentation types such as link or switch can be combined to support various test requirements.
- Multiple host connections: Connection to the host system via USB 3.0 or 1000BASE‑T Ethernet.
- Flexible power supply: Power can be supplied via USB‑C or an external power unit depending on the application.
- Future‑ready Ethernet features: Support for MACsec (IEEE 802.1AE) and Open Alliance TC10 for security and sleep/wake functionality.
Main Application Areas

Ethernet Monitoring
The VN5620A enables transparent connectivity (in/out/monitor) between Ethernet nodes and monitoring with precise timestamps. It also ensures the transparent forwarding of TC10 events. The system also includes TAP functionality, link transparency, and mirroring ports for monitoring and logging.

Remaining Bus Simulation
The interface enables customer-specific hardware configuration for the flexible setup of bus simulations using CANoe Option Ethernet. This allows for a clear distinction between the simulation and the real network, as well as the realistic replication of various network topologies.

Media Converter
The VN5620A is used as a data link between Automotive Ethernet (100BASE-T1/1000BASE-T1) and standard Ethernet (100BASE-TX/1000BASE-T). The conversion is transparent and bidirectional.

Direct Access
The VN5620A provides direct access to individual Ethernet ports, for example, for testing multiple identical systems on a test bench, for reprogramming control units, or for vehicle diagnostics.

Channel Extension (Cascading)
The VN5620A supports channel extension by cascading multiple devices. This allows for flexible expansion of test and measurement setups.
