Automated Conformance, Interoperability and Security Tests for EVs

CANoe Test Package EV gives you a structured library of powerful test cases for EV charging communication.

Use it to run conformance and interoperability tests for international standards such as CCS/NACS (IEC 61851, ISO 15118 and DIN 70121), GB/T and CHAdeMO. Dedicated security tests help you identify vulnerabilities and support your security goals.

Tool Workflow & Use Cases

The execution and editing of the test cases is embedded in a tool workflow with vTESTstudio, CANoe and vCTS. The following two use cases are differentiated:

Use Case: Test Execution

For pure test case execution, a ready-to-use setup is provided. The test execution itself is performed in CANoe. Select the test cases individually or in groups in CANoe and execute them with vCTS, VT System or vVIRTUALtarget, depending on the integration level of the development process. The test result is logged in a test report, which you can read with the CANoe Test Report Viewer or output as XML/HTML format.

Use Case: Test Modification & Execution

For test case modification and execution, a powerful API and editable test library source code is provided. The modification can be easily done in vTESTstudio. After the modifications, a customized setup will be created, which can be opened and run directly in CANoe.

Integration Levels

The test cases of CANoe Test Package EV can be used at different integration levels of the development process. This flexibility simplifies your workflows and saves costs. 

Software Requirements

Sending and receiving messages while the test cases are executed is based on the additionally required CANoe Option SmartCharging and, depending on the standard:

  • for CCS and NACS: CANoe.Ethernet (CANoe version < 19)
  • for GB/T: CANoe.J1939
  • for CHAdeMO: CANoe.CAN (already included in CANoe)

The test cases are created with vTESTstudio. Any adaptation of the test cases to an existing test environment or to the System Under Test therefore requires vTESTstudio.
 

Hardware Requirements

For the execution of test cases at software level (SIL), vVIRTUALtarget or SIL Kit are used to generate a virtualized ECU.

For the execution of test cases at component level (A/B Samples), the control of the Vector hardware interfaces are already directly integrated:

  • for security and CCS/NACS: VT5201+ PLCpiggy (QCA7000, QCA7006AQ, MSE1021, CG5317) or VT7970/VT7971/VT7870 which are still supported.
  • for GB/T: VT2004A, VT2816 and a CAN interface
  • for CHAdeMO: VT2004A, VT2816 and a CAN interface

For the execution of test cases at system level, use vCTS as a plug and play solution where the hardware interfaces are already directly integrated.
