SIL Kit

Your Open-Source Library for Connecting SIL Environments

Vector and Synopsys develop the SIL Kit, a versatile open-source library that connects Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) environments such as emulators, virtual machines, and simulators. It provides a robust communication infrastructure for developing software for distributed systems and ensures seamless interoperability across all SIL Kit enabled tools.

Advantages

  • Open-source under a permissive MIT license
  • Rich APIs and services for multiple software test scenarios
  • Wide platform support and CI ready
  • Suitable for all stages of embedded systems / virtual ECU development
  • Works for all industries to “shift left” embedded software development

Application Area

The SIL Kit is a versatile library for software testing and simulation in the development of embedded systems. It enables seamless communication between test tools and virtual components over a TCP/IP network by translating service calls into network messages. This supports testing of individual software modules and co-simulation of complex, multi-node environments.

SIL Kit is also an integral part of the Vector SIL test solution. It is integrated in CANoe and vVIRTUALtarget and is compatible with other tools and workflows. As an open-source project, it is also used in third-party applications and bridges the gap in real, heterogeneous setups from different manufacturers. Vector is committed to SIL Kit as a solution and ensures long-term development and maintenance of the open-source project.
