The VN5611 and VN5612 are very compact and convenient interface products for automotive Ethernet IEEE 100BASE‑T1/1000BASE‑T1 (VN5611) and Standard Ethernet IEEE 100BASE‑TX/1000BASE‑T (VN5612).
They are used for analysis of Ethernet networks as well as for simulation and test tasks in Ethernet environments, with USB 3.0 used as the interface to the computer.

Main Application Areas
Ethernet Monitoring
- Transparent connection (in/out/monitor) between two automotive or Standard Ethernet nodes enables monitoring with precise time stamps and simultaneous use of both Ethernet links.
Network access for simulation and test
- Access to the connected automotive network in the context of restbus simulations and for connecting virtual nodes.
The interface forms a switch with up to two physical and up to 16 virtual ports for computer access and supports individual port access including transmission and reporting of erroneous frames as well as software‑based device synchronization.
Test and fault injection
- The interface supports targeted testing through individual access to single ports.
Erroneous frames and additional frames can be deliberately inserted into the network traffic.
