The increasing number of automotive cameras and their importance for vehicle control functions makes road testing under the wide range of conditions of the operational design domain an impossible task.

Virtual Image Injection System Overview

Camera ECU testing in a hardware-in-the-loop setup with injection of virtual image streams from DYNA4 into Vector HIL hardware incl. Video Interface Board and CANoe for bus communication.
  • DYNA4 vehicle and environment simulation provides virtual test drive scenarios. 
  • DYNA4 camera simulation models generate virtual raw image data with consistent frame header, footer, and embedded lines. 
  • The Vector Video Interface Board, equipped with a suitable serializer chip for GMSL or FPD-Link, outputs serialized image streams synchronously for injection into the ADAS ECU. 
  • I2C back-channel communication for automatic gain control is fed back into the DYNA4 camera models.
  • CANoe bus simulation serves the ECU's bus interfaces via Vector network interfaces. 
  • Closed-loop control function testing: Vehicle control commands from the ECU are fed back into the DYNA4 virtual vehicle.
