vCharM.edge

Controller for Dynamic EV Charging Load Management with Offline Capability
Contact

vCharM.edge is the local hardware controller for vCharM, installed on-site at fleet depots and commercial charging locations to execute dynamic load management with low latency and offline capability. When cloud connectivity is unavailable, vCharM.edge continues coordinating charging sessions, enforcing site power limits and handling offline charging authorization without interruption. Designed for charging sites where operational continuity cannot depend on a stable internet connection.

Charging Coordination that Keeps Working When the Network Doesn't

vCharM.edge is the local hardware extension for vCharM. It executes dynamic load management and EV charging authorization on-site, keeping operations running when the connection to vCharM is unavailable.

Local Execution

Local Execution

All load management logic runs on the device. Site power limits are enforced and charging is coordinated continuously, regardless of network availability.

Offline EV Authorization

Offline EV Authorization

Sessions are authorized from a locally cached list. Drivers can start and stop charging even when connectivity to the backend is unavailable.

vCharM Integration

vCharM Integration

Synchronizes operational parameters and authorization data with vCharM. Takes over automatically on connectivity loss and reconnects without manual intervention.

Energy Resource Connectivity

Energy Resource Connectivity

Sites with on-site photovoltaic generation, battery energy storage systems (BESS) or building automation require direct local data exchange that a cloud backend cannot provide with sufficient latency.

Reasons to Use vCharM.edge

vCharM.edge combines hardware resilience with local intelligence to keep charging sites operational under all network conditions.

  • Optimal load distribution
Distributes available site power dynamically across all connected charging points. As sessions start and end, the power budget is continuously recalculated to maximize utilization without exceeding the configured grid connection limit.
  • Easy installation
Compact housing for standard DIN rail mounting in charging site control cabinets. Connects to the local network via Ethernet and to charging infrastructure via OCPP. Minimal cabling and a straightforward commissioning process.
  • IPv6 and IPv4 compatibility
Supports both IPv6 and IPv4 network protocols, ensuring compatibility with modern infrastructure and legacy network environments. No additional routing configuration required for dual-stack deployments.
