Develop Charging Stations and Wallboxes

For Charging Station OEMs, Wallbox Manufacturers and Heavy-Duty Infrastructure Developers

Vector’s product families vSECC and vSECClib are field-proven communication controllers and software libraries that reduce integration effort to a minimum for wallbox, charging station and heavy-duty DC charging manufacturers. They cover CCS, CHAdeMO, NACS with ISO 15118-2 and ISO 15118-20 including Plug & Charge, BPT, V2G, OCPP 1.6, OCPP 2.0.1, OCPP 2.1 and AFIR compliance, across AC and DC wallboxes, AC and DC charging stations and megawatt charging systems.

Which Type of Charging Infrastructure Are You Developing?

The vSECC family and vSECClib cover infrastructure types from compact residential wallboxes to multi-megawatt heavy-duty charging. Each type has distinct requirements for power level, form factor, communication protocols, regulatory compliance and hardware integration depth.

Extended Cable Distances and Smart Power Distribution

Fleet depots and high-utilization sites often require charging points to be placed far from central power electronics, or need to share power electronics dynamically across multiple charging points. vSECC.InPlug moves PLC into the connector and enables cable lengths of up to 100 meters. Combined with vSECC and Smart Power Distribution, it supports scalable off-site charging layouts.

Which Vector Solution Fits Your Charging Station Design?

Several hardware variants and software libraries cover the full range of communication requirements for charging stations and wallboxes. Every hardware variant integrates the components and software that would otherwise need to be sourced and qualified separately, reducing procurement, integration and certification effort. Choose based on charging type, power level, form factor and whether you prefer Vector hardware or your own embedded platform.

vSECC

Controller for AC and DC charging stations and fast chargers, supporting two charging points per unit. Supports CCS/NACS, CHAdeMO and both vehicle-mounted pantograph (roof-mounted) and infrastructure-mounted pantograph (inverted) connectors. Handles communication between vehicle, backend, power electronics and peripherals such as energy meters. Designed for AFIR-compliant public charging infrastructure. Also serves as the base controller for off-site architectures combined with vSECC.InPlug and Smart Power Distribution.

vSECC.MCS

Controller hardware for megawatt charging systems targeting heavy-duty electric vehicles: electric trucks, buses, port equipment and industrial vehicles. Manages two charging points: one MCS connector plus one optional CCS/NACS DC connector. For buses, communication can be extended with VDV 261 for fleet bus preconditioning.
vsecc-single-dark-blue.jpg

vSECC.single

Compact controller hardware for one AC or DC charging point. Supports ISO 15118-2 and ISO 15118-20 including Plug & Charge and bidirectional charging (BPT / AC DER) for grid-serving and off-grid wallbox designs. For slim bus depot chargers, the vSECC.single allows far distances to an off-site power cabinet and adds VDV 261 support for preconditioning use cases. Designed for residential, workplace and fleet charging applications where a small form factor, AFIR readiness and cost-efficient integration are priorities.

vSECC.single Board

Plug-on board variant of the vSECC.single for one AC or DC charging point. For manufacturers who want to integrate charging communication more closely into their own hardware design. The board form factor reduces the integration footprint and is suited to designs where space, weight or assembly constraints make a modular controller format preferable to a standalone DIN-rail mounted unit. Full ISO 15118-2, bidirectional ISO 15118-20 and OCPP 1.6 (IEC 63584), OCPP 2.0.1 and OCPP 2.1 (in development) protocol support in a compact form.

vSECC.InPlug

Works together with vSECC to move PLC into the charging connector. Extends possible cable lengths between vehicle and power cabinet to up to 100 meters, making it viable to position vehicles in fleet depots far from power electronics. Enables off-site storage of power electronics in DC layouts for fleet depots, logistics sites and high-power installations where available space and cable reach is a design constraint.

vSECClib

Software library providing the charging station-side communication stack for AC, DC, MCS and wireless charging. The number of charging points per SECC depends on your implementation. Covers DIN SPEC 70121, ISO 15118-2, ISO 15118-20 including bidirectional charging (BPT / AC DER) and Plug & Charge, OppCharge and OCPP 1.6, OCPP 2.0.1 (IEC 63584) and OCPP 2.1 (in development). For manufacturers who own their controller hardware and want to implement the full charging communication stack on their own embedded platform without using a Vector controller.

Which Charging Communication Standards Do the vSECC Products Support?

The vSECC and vSECClib products cover the full range of vehicle-side and backend charging standards across all power levels. Support for evolving standards is designed to be updateable without requiring a full communication layer redesign.

VEHICLE COMMUNICATION

EV and EVSE Charging Protocols

  • ISO 15118-2 (AC and DC, Plug & Charge)
  • ISO 15118-20 (bidirectional, multi-service, Plug & Charge)
  • DIN SPEC 70121
  • CHAdeMO
  • NACS (SAE J3400)
  • OppCharge / SAE J3105 (pantograph)
