vSECC.single Board

Plug-On Communication Controller Board for Wallboxes

A plug-on hardware board that adds complete EV charging intelligence to an existing wallbox or mobile charging station and eases the development of new single-port AC or DC charging designs. Connects directly to custom-designed electronics via a 30-pole SAMTEC connector, covering ISO 15118-20 (including bidirectional AC DER and Plug & Charge), DIN SPEC 70121, IEC 61851 and OCPP 1.6, OCPP 2.0.1 and OCPP 2.1 out of the box. Built for wallbox manufacturers who need a fast, proven path to an AFIR-compliant charging product without redesigning their hardware architecture.

Many Interfaces. One Controller.

vSECC.single Board takes over the complete charging communication for a single AC or DC charging point. The same communication architecture as vSECC.single, in a plug-on form factor that connects directly to your designed electronics. The board manages vehicle communication, backend sessions, power electronics and peripherals from the moment it is plugged on and configured. No programming skills required.

Vehicle Communication

Vehicle Communication

vSECC.single Board manages the EVSE side of both AC and DC charging. The stack covers DIN SPEC 70121, ISO 15118-2/-3 and ISO 15118-20 including Plug & Charge, bidirectional DC BPT and AC DER. For AC charging, IEC 61851-1 and SAE J1772 are supported alongside ISO 15118. The ISO 15118-20 Amd. 1 (AC DER / DC BPT) capability allows bidirectional energy flow, making the board ideal for wallboxes using renewable energy and photovoltaic integration without requiring a separate buffer storage system.

Backend Communication

Backend Communication

Backend communication to charging station management systems runs via OCPP 2.1 (in development), OCPP 2.0.1 (IEC 63584) and OCPP 1.6 over Ethernet. Remote software updates via OCPP allow the board to receive function extensions and standard updates without hardware changes.

Board Integration and Power Control

Board Integration and Power Control

vSECC.single Board communicates with power electronics over CAN or Ethernet and connects to host electronics via a 30-pole SAMTEC base board connector and a 10-pole SAMTEC charging connector. Ten digital I/O lines at logic level 3.3 V, four 0 to 5 V analog inputs, two PT 1000 temperature sensor inputs and a safety output provide direct integration, thermal monitoring and an independent safety signal path. The board is series-ready and designed for direct integration into the manufacturing process of a wallbox, charging station or custom-designed electronics board, without the need for a separate housing, wiring harness or full DIN rail controller.

Why vSECC.single Board?

vSECC.single Board addresses core requirements for manufacturers developing wallboxes, mobile charging stations and charging products using renewable energy.

  • Fast Time-To-Market for Wallbox Manufacturers
vSECC.single Board plugs onto your custom-designed electronics via a SAMTEC connector, enabling manufacturers to add complete charging intelligence without developing a new controller platform. EMC-tested in an external test lab, the board ships with the same certification foundation as the broader vSECC family. Companies manufacturing photovoltaic inverters, energy management systems or other power electronics can enrich their product with charging capability by integrating vSECC.single Board.
  • AFIR Compliance Out of the Box
vSECC.single Board provides ready-to-use support for ISO 15118 (Plug & Charge), enabling manufacturers to meet upcoming EU requirements without developing or validating their own compliance stack.
  • Bidirectional Charging for Smart Energy Applications
The vSECC.single Board supports bidirectional charging according to ISO 15118-20 BPT (DC) and ISO 15118-20 Amd. 1 AC DER (AC). For residential wallboxes, this enables the use of solar-generated electricity stored in the vehicle battery without the cost of a dedicated buffer storage system. For microgrids and charging applications using renewable energy, the board enables energy management integration that goes beyond simple charging, supporting intelligent load and generation balancing. Adhering to local grid requirements is part of our software, with all the specifics per country.

Who Builds with vSECC.single Board?

The vSECC.single Board is used by manufacturers who want to add smart charging functionality to an existing product or develop new wallbox solutions without designing controller hardware from scratch. Its compact size enables highly compact and extremely slim wallbox designs.

The Software Layer for vSECC.single Board

The functions of the vSECC.single Board are implemented via the vSECC Software. vSECC Software handles all communication necessary for electrical charging: vehicle communication via ISO 15118 and IEC 61851, backend or energy management via OCPP or MQTT, power electronics control and peripheral integration. Remote software updates enable standard compliance and function extensions over the product lifetime.

Charging Standards

AC and DC charging communication including ISO 15118-2/-3, ISO 15118-20 and Amd. 1 with Plug & Charge and bidirectional AC and DC, DIN SPEC 70121 and IEC 61851.

Grid Integration

Compliance with local grid requirements is built into the software. Country-specific regulations are handled centrally and can be easily configured via a simple country selection.

Backend

Smart and schedule-based charging via OCPP. Remote software updates for standard compliance and function extensions over the product lifetime.

AFIR and Security

ISO 15118 Plug & Charge fulfills AFIR requirements. Security analyses based on ISO 15408, ISO 27001 and IEC 62443 are implemented.

How Does vSECC.single Board Fit into the Product Family?

vSECC.single Board shares the same software as vSECC.single and the broader vSECC family, in a plug-on form factor designed for direct integration with electronics. Manufacturers choosing between vSECC.single and vSECC.single Board select based on form factor preference: DIN rail housing with spring terminals or a plug-on board for direct PCB integration.
