VIO System
Compact, Modular I/O Hardware for Measuring and Testing at the Workstation and Test Bench
Testing embedded systems often requires complex and expensive test solutions. As a result, they are only used in the later stages of the development process. With the VIO System, I/O tests can be performed much earlier.
The VIO System's compact design makes it ideal for use on the lab bench. It enables continuous testing and simulation at the earliest stages of development at the evaluation board level. Whether sensors, actuators, or complete ECUs are being tested during the hardware/software development phase, the VIO System covers all application areas.
As part of a measurement system on the test bench, the VIO System also scores with its uncomplicated cabling and operation, support for a wide range of analog and digital measurement variables and various bus systems, as well as fast and precise measurement technology at an attractive price.
Advantages
- Very compact size directly for the developer's desk (63 HP and 42 HP housings)
- Full test functionality supporting hardware development from the very beginning
- Seamless integration in CANoe, CANape and vMeasure
- Automatic detection of new card types
- Short time to market for new I/O cards (also on customer request)
- Tool-free wiring with the target hardware
- Support of CAN and FlexRay measurements using cards of the VX1161 measurement hardware
- Time sync of all cards via IEEE1588 Precision Time Protocol (PTP)
Application Areas
In the early stages of development, testing of embedded systems is often limited or impossible. The target hardware is not available at this stage, so development typically takes place on evaluation boards.
The VIO System solves this problem. Its design allows early testing. Hardware or software problems can be quickly identified. This reduces the need for extensive system-level HIL testing.
Because of its versatility, the VIO System can be used wherever I/O testing is required at the workstation or test bench: in the automotive, aerospace, railway, medical, and industrial automation industries. With the VIO System, errors can be found and corrected more quickly. Even extensive measurement tasks can be completed in a short time.
Table Housing
The compact footprint makes the VIO System a powerful I/O test hardware for the desktop. Thanks to its mechanical concept, it is easy to set up and reconfigure and can be quickly adapted to changing project requirements.
The VIO System is available in two housing variants:

VIO9007
The VIO9007 provides 9 card slots. One slot is dedicated for the power supply card, another one for the host uplink card. The remaining 7 slots are designed to hold any of the I/O cards or can be left unpopulated.

VIO9012
The VIO9012 provides 14 card slots. One slot is dedicated for the power supply card, another one for the host uplink card. The remaining 12 slots are designed to hold any of the I/O cards or can be left unpopulated.

Automatic Configuration of CANoe Input Fields
Based on the function description stored on each I/O card, CANoe automatically recognises the possibilities offered by the individual system configuration and provides the corresponding system variables.
The input and output tasks can then be defined and named in the automatically generated configuration window. The setting options for each I/O card (card-wide or channel-based) are also automatically displayed and assigned default values.
